The team leader then creates a shared workspace for the team. Using Pagico for team collaboration requires all participants to have the app installed. For this review I have used the Pagico professional version 5.3 on an iMac running Mountain Lion and Pagico Plus 2 ($6.99) on an iPad 2. The iPhone version of Pagico Plus 2 will launch on 28 November 2012 and sell for $9.99. Be sure to check back here to read my follow-up review of the iPhone app. The mobile versions are called Pagico Plus. A licence for additional computers costs $5. The Pagico desktop app comes in three versions: people ($20), planner ($30) and professional ($50), with the website providing a clear overview of the respective features. That is not to say, however, that Pagico is derivative it has its own intrinsic logic and is an original, versatile and beautifully executed app, particularly on the iPad and the iPhone versions. Pagico at times feels like a mix of IQTELL, OneNote, MS-Project and KanbanFlow. Pagico has some unusual features: it lets you manually rearrange your tasks on a ‘dashboard’ that looks like a Gantt chart and it can turn your project steps into a slideshow. It took me a while to find my way around the app and how workspaces can be configured, but it was worth the effort. It is rich in features yet also somewhat idiosyncratic. Pagico is a desktop app that has been around since 2007. It supports individual planning as well as team collaboration and is available for Mac, Windows, Ubuntu, iPhone and iPad. The developers describe their product as ‘a comprehensive planner that manages notes, tasks, files, projects and contacts’. Pagico is the handiwork of a small development team based in Japan. We aren’t looking to become an app that is capable of doing several things but masters nothing. After installation, the application will greet users with a small launcher that lets users access any connections previously established, make new connections, as well as create backups and restores of databases. You can be up and running in a matter of minutes, with the option to extend functionality by using JavaScript plugins written by others or those that you’ve created yourself. The app’s advanced filters permit users to look at specific records in a clear and organized way. Give TablePlus, which is available as part of your Setapp subscription, a try. And let’s be honest, maintaining a relational database for Mac has not historically been the prettiest of activities. Nor does it need to involve using blocky software that costs an arm and a leg.and looks like it belongs in the 90s. Managing multiple databases can be time-consuming and require committing various usernames and passwords to memory, but it doesn’t need to be so arduous. Enabling TablePlus’s dark theme - which is available for all users with registered accounts - can be a big help for reducing some of that strain. Whether you’re staring at rows of data all day (well, night for a typical developer) or using a relational database tool, close computer work can be tough on the eyes. Sometimes a simple feature can make all the difference, which is why you should never underestimate something like dark mode. On the off chance you can’t find the field you’re looking for, you can use the app’s search (which includes autocomplete) and filter functions to track down whatever it is you need, quicker than any database diagram tool. Making changes to existing data is a breeze using inline editing, and feels just like editing a cell in a spreadsheet. You’re always just a couple of clicks away from being able to backup databases to, and restore them from, local storage using a. You can manually enter new connections in TablePlus but, if time is of the essence, you can also import all of the relevant information by copy-pasting the database URL. Welcome news if you’ve ever found the SQL editor Mac users have always dreamed of, only to realize that it can’t handle any other database types. No matter which type(s) of database you’re managing, the app will also review changes you make to code, highlighting syntax and possible errors. TablePlus offers a ton of compatibility so it suits any project that might come your way, from SQL variants like MySQL, SQLite, and Microsoft SQL Server through to Cassandra, Oracle, and Redis. And because you’re not limited to just a couple of different languages or extensions, it might just be the only piece of database management software you’ll ever need. TablePlus’s clean and fresh UI, with its multiple tabs/windows and keyboard shortcuts, makes juggling multiple databases a piece of cake. Many existing database tools that claim to ease the pain are clunky and fail to address key issues that database managers regularly face, plus they can be costly to boot. Managing multiple databases can be a headache if you’re forever switching between many different accounts and types. You may see that certain patterns begin to emerge. So, at the end of each week, take some time to compare your timesheets. It’s that your timesheets will gradually begin to reveal to you how to craft an ideal daily schedule for yourself. Your timesheets, once complete, will become an asset that improves your ability to create a work schedule that maximizes your daily output.Īlthough the act of recording your work periods and break times will help you remain on-task each day, there’s another important reason you’re doing it. If you wish, you can calculate your total work time (and fill it in) when you finish a task, or you can do all of the math at once at the end of the day.Īll that matters is that you don’t leave any gaps in your time tracking. As you complete each task, be sure to record your final stop time. Repeat Until Your Work Is CompleteĪll you have to do next is to repeat the steps above until the tasks you’re working on are complete. ⌄ Scroll down to continue reading article ⌄ 6. And when your break ends, don’t forget to record the time you’ve resumed work and list the length of the break you took. You should use a timer to make sure you get back to your task in the right amount of time. Otherwise, it won’t be long until your breaks eat up the majority of your time.Īs a general rule of thumb, try taking a five-minute break for each 25-minute work period, and increase your break time proportionally for longer work periods. You can take a break that’s as long or short as you like, but don’t abuse the privilege. Just make sure to write down your stop time on your timesheet in the right place. When you decide you need to take a break, go ahead and do so. One technology company that recently directed its employees to take breaks every hour as they saw fit saw productivity levels rise by 23%-with no mandate required. But there’s evidence that the less-structured Flowtime approach to breaks works just as well. It’s one of the reasons that mandatory breaks are a part of the Pomodoro Technique. There are plenty of case studies that demonstrate how taking regular breaks improves productivity. This corresponds to your Ultradian Rhythm, which are the alternating periods of alertness and rest that our brains experience throughout the day. You’ll likely find that the longest period you’ll be able to sustain is around 90 minutes or so. ⌄ Scroll down to continue reading article ⌄ If you get absorbed in other types of tasks, maximize your output by working for as long as you feel capable of staying focused. If you don’t focus well on certain tasks, work on them for shorter durations. The idea is to get to know your own patterns and work in segments that fit you best. If you get into a productive groove, lose track of the time, and end up working for an hour straight, that’s fine, too. If you feel yourself getting fatigued after 15 minutes, take a break. You may then keep working on your listed task for as long as you like. This will help you to focus on what you need to get done and minimize any self-imposed distractions. Once you’ve gotten started on your task, the only rule you must observe is that there is no multitasking allowed. Then, list the time you’re starting work. Begin by listing the task you’re going to work on in the appropriate field of your timesheet. The next step is to start working on your task. So, try and break down what you’re doing into the smallest manageable pieces. In other words, don’t choose a task like “paint my house.” Choose something like “paint the front door of my house.” If you select a task that’s too broad, you’ll have difficulty sticking with the work. It should be specific, and something you can reasonably complete in the amount of time you have. To get started, choose a task you wish to get done. Once you have it set up, here’s how to use it: Your timesheet will be the primary way you track your daily tasks and establish a flow that works best for you. At the heading of your timesheet, include the following column headings: You can do this with a spreadsheet or by hand, whichever you find most convenient. To start using the Flowtime Technique, the first thing you’ll need to do is create a timesheet to help you manage your daily activities. ⌄ Scroll down to continue reading article ⌄ The Basics of the Flowtime Technique Click the answer to find similar crossword clues. This time the turkey is not intended for the Thanksgiving feast, because it is the singer’s favorite pet! Do not be afraid, my little turkey, since “ we had mac and cheese instead!” for Thanksgiving dinner. This song counts down from 10 to 1 until all 10 turkeys leave their pen, as the red hen urges them to. A very beautiful song where we hear children’s voices singing positive slogans, hoping to stay in the voices but also in the hearts of those who sing together. On the occasion of Thanksgiving Day we refer to human values that are the basis for better relationships between people, but also between man and nature. After the children sing about the whole menu of the day you can ask them what is their favorite taste or what they would like to try again at the family table. Finally, for those who won’t stand still, a song that combines Thanksgiving day body percussion sounds and an opportunity to repeat or learn musical rhythmic values and patterns.īased on the melody of “Frère Jacques”, this song refers to the traditional Thanksgiving Feast. Our collection includes songs that are related to all the above. Moreover, family bonds and support within the family are also relevant on this day, and it is no coincidence that it is celebrated with a family meal. However, this day is also a great opportunity to make reference to the values of thankfulness and gratefulness, as prosperity is based not only on the blessing of nature and God, but also on peaceful human coexistence. in Canada the corresponding day is celebrated on the second Monday of October and in the United Kingdom there is no specific date), but an annual celebration called the Harvest Festival for which celebrations take place around the time of the main harvest of a given region.Ī typical traditional Thanksgiving meal includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie, which is why children’s songs refer mainly to turkey. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in U.S.A., although this date may differ in other areas (e.g. Its roots are traced back three centuries, when the first colonists in 1621 felt grateful for last year’s harvest. This day is dedicated to good harvest and abundance. Reference: “A prebiotic basis for ATP as the universal energy currency” by Silvana Pinna, Cäcilia Kunz, Aaron Halpern, Stuart A. The fact that this happens best in water under mild, life-compatible conditions is really quite significant for the origin of life.” It was very surprising to discover the reaction is so selective – in the metal ion, phosphate donor, and substrate – with molecules that life still uses. But I also thought that several phosphorylating agents and metal ion catalysts would work, especially those conserved in life. Lead author Silvana Pinna adds, “ATP is so central to metabolism that I thought it might be possible to form it from ADP under prebiotic conditions. Over time, with the emergence of suitable catalysts, ATP could eventually displace AcP as a ubiquitous phosphate donor, and promote the polymerization of amino acids and nucleotides to form RNA, DNA, and proteins.” “Our results suggest that AcP is the most plausible precursor to ATP as a biological phosphorylator,” Lane says, “and that the emergence of ATP as the universal energy currency of the cell was not the result of a ‘frozen accident,’ but arose from the unique interactions of ADP and AcP. Finally, they showed that none of the other nucleoside diphosphates accepted a phosphate from AcP.Ĭombining these results with molecular-dynamic modeling, the authors propose a mechanistic explanation for the specificity of the ADP/AcP/iron reaction, hypothesizing that the small diameter and high charge density of the iron ion, combined with the conformation of the intermediate formed when the three come together, provide a “just right” geometry that allows AcP’s phosphate to switch partners, forming ATP. Next, they tested a panel of other small organic molecules for their ability to phosphorylate ADP none were as effective as AcP, and only one other (carbamoyl phosphate) had any significant activity at all. Drawing on data and hypotheses about the chemical conditions of the Earth before life arose, they tested the ability of other ions and minerals to catalyze ATP formation in water none were nearly as effective as iron. The authors explored all these questions in their new study. Molecular dynamic simulation of ADP and acetyl phosphate Credit: Aaron Halpern, UCL ( CC-BY 4.0) AcP has been shown to phosphorylate ADP to ATP in water in the presence of iron ions, but a host of questions remained after that demonstration, including whether other small molecules might work as well, whether AcP is specific for ADP or instead could function just as well with diphosphates of other nucleosides (such as guanosine or cytosine), and whether iron is unique in its ability to catalyze ADP phosphorylation in water. The most likely candidate, Lane and colleagues believed, was the two-carbon compound acetyl phosphate (AcP), which functions today in both bacteria and archaea as a metabolic intermediate. This means that some other compound may have played a central role in the conversion of ADP to ATP at this stage of evolution. While convincing models do allow for prebiotic formation of the ATP skeleton without energy from already-formed ATP, they also indicate that ATP was likely quite scarce. However, building ATP’s complex chemical structure from scratch is energy intensive and requires six separate ATP-driven steps. Cleavage of that phosphate releases energy to power most types of cellular functions. During cellular respiration, energy is captured when a phosphate is added to ADP (adenosine diphosphate) to generate ATP. ATP is used by all cells as an energy intermediate. The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) backed the project and gave it the designation XP-47. 30 in (7.62 mm) M1919 Browning machine guns mounted in the wings. 50 in (12.7 mm) M2 Browning machine guns mounted in the nose and four. The latter was a lightweight aircraft powered by the Allison V-1710 liquid-cooled V-12 engine and armed with two. A small number of Republic P-43 Lancers was built, but Republic had been working on an improved P-44 Rocket with a more powerful engine, as well as on the AP-10 fighter design. In 1939, Republic Aviation designed the AP-4 demonstrator powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 radial engine with a belly-mounted turbocharger. Both had fled from their homeland, Tbilisi, Georgia, to escape the Bolsheviks. It was to replace the Seversky P-35 developed earlier by a Russian immigrant named Alexander P. The P-47 Thunderbolt was designed by Alexander Kartveli, a man of Georgian descent. P-47 firing its M2 machine guns during night gunnery ground-attack aircraft, the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, takes its name from the P-47. Nicknamed the "Jug" owing to its appearance if stood on its nose, the P-47 was noted for its firepower as well as its ability to resist battle damage and remain airworthy. The armored cockpit was relatively roomy and comfortable and the bubble canopy introduced on the P-47D offered good visibility. Mexican and Brazilian squadrons fighting alongside the USAAF also flew the P-47. The P-47 was one of the main United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) fighters of World War II, and also served with other Allied air forces, including those of France, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union. An advanced turbosupercharger system ensured the aircraft's eventual dominance at high altitudes, while also influencing its size and design. Marine Corps fighters, the Grumman F6F Hellcat and the Vought F4U Corsair. The P-47 was designed around the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp 18-cylinder radial engine, which also powered two U.S. The Thunderbolt was effective as a short-to medium-range escort fighter in high-altitude air-to-air combat and ground attack in both the European and Pacific theaters. When fully loaded, the P-47 weighed up to 8 tons, making it one of the heaviest fighters of the war. 50-caliber machine guns, and it could carry 5-inch rockets or a bomb load of 2,500 lb (1,100 kg). It was a successful high-altitude fighter and it also served as the foremost American fighter-bomber in the ground-attack role.
